Well, my fiancee and I correspond through Skype and e-mail usually, but I heard someone say that I should write letters to her occasionally because e-mails can be done by a dich vu too, so sending snail mail letter. But then others say that, why send snail mail letter is not good because I have e-mail and skype, why would you want to send letters? Any thoughts on this?

my wife and i never send mail. we only e-mail and skype and talk on the phone thru(lunex). so on the interview day with the CO, i print out all my calling detail and email, to bring it to the interview. the CO didn't said anything about if we send snail mail or anything like that. ohhh i do send like x-max card and b-day card that it.

anyway do whatever you think is right man. " it's the twenty first century who the hell talk thru mail, when you can go skype. "

A letter or two each way per month is a good paper trail of communication.. cant be faked easily like emails etc. can be.... they only cost a buck or so to send and it can make the waiting more livable with a surprise every now and then...

Send snail mail for her B-day, Valentines, Cmax, and holiday. Should be good enough.

First you are going to get a lot of different answers; some people will tell you that you have to use snail mail because emails and chat logs can be faked. The fact is that this is the modern age, and there have been people that never wrote a single snail mail letter and have been approved, the truth is we will never know the real answer to that question. Just make sure if you don’t use snail mail that you take many email logs, and chat logs, if they do not keep them make sure that if they don’t hand you a pink, you give them ALL of them at the window when you resubmit things they ask for. If they deny you right off the back, save them for any appeal or rebuttal they may or may not allow you to make. I personally know many people that never use snail mail and they have had no problems, and I also know people that have been denied stating no proof of ongoing relationship, but those people (and I am one of them) did NOT submit the emails and chat logs when turning in the requested evidence. Either way, good luck, and do what you think is best for your situation, it won’t hurt if you want to send a few snail mails, and it is kind of like Christmas when you get a letter from your loved one and vice versa. when you say e-mails, you mean just a list of e-mails, or the actual e-mails printed out?

Chat logs, on skype, i use an exporter program which lists the day, time, and duration of the calls and the name of the person i'm calling, but it doesn't list the caller. i guess, i can have my fiancee print out hers too and they can match it up?

i think i might just send occasional letters, even if it doesn't help with immigration, i'm sure she'll be happy to receive them.

We printed a email log, and we also had many emails there to choose from, we had at least 2 emails every day, so there are litterally hundreds, and instead of printing out just 30 or so we printed the 30 or so out then also printed a log that shows who the sender was with the date, and then highlited every one that we had with us at the interview, the fact is that they did not look at a single one, and only the log, but for us that is just how it worked.

Using skype is a gamble that the consulate official knows what skype is. You really have to prepare your documents in a way that dumbs it down for them. The entire emails should be printed out, organized and labeled. A few sample chats along with chat log should be good, organized and labeled. The entire interview is maybe 20 minutes, so any reasonable person off the street should be able to pick a random document and know instantly what it is.
