Hello VJers, We have sent our DS-230 pckt for form I-130 to NVC on 21st july. i just spoke to the operator and he says our birth certificate nd marriage certificates r missing.. evebthough we had sent all the documents in the pckt with cover sheet as well as cover letter.also we had written our NVC case number on the right hand corner of each doc..so hows that possible that they havent got them?. Out of all 10 documents how come there is 2 missing and those are the important ones which is really suprising to us.

the operator said that he has sent the checklist to our postal address and we need to send them again via post.And as u know that will take a lot of time..so can u pls suggest what can b done in this situation? Ur help will be approciated.. thank u in advance.

there is 'evidence chain' when you have a 'checklist letter'.

If you don't follow the 'evidence submittal' process, outlined in the 'checklist letter', then you are causing more confusion for yourself and your casefile. Any attempt to 'get it there faster' without the checklist letter utilised as a cover sheet, will actually be great cause for 'more lost documents'.

Many times, checklist letters are sent out via email - if that's the case for you - please check yer bulk/spam folders, see if anything there - if you then have something - print it out, attach it to the requested evidence.

Sorry they lost yer stuff, I've no idea of how to 'force an eyeball search' of paperwork at NVC when it gets misplaced/lost.

If you are really waiting on a postal 'checklist letter' then you should be calling back to NVC, and ask them to review the postal address for the petitioner, make certain NVC has the 'right address for the petitioner' and also inquire exactly WHEN the 'checklist letter' was sent out.

Did you send originals or copies? If you sent copies, they are simply asking for originals. When you send the copies and they actually need originals. They will say these documents are MISSING. No that they did not get them, its just that they did not get them in the form they are expecting. Hope it helped.

"Lost Documents" happened to a friend of mine last week. NVC lost his original divorce record even though he had sent the original and a copy. I have just sent for more original documents for myself just incase the NVC may lose 1 of mine......I have read on here it may be a good idea to put your case number on each and every sheet or document you send to NVC. .....

I have read on here it may be a good idea to put your case number on each and every sheet or document you send to NVC. .....

I completely agree with you, Bob! NVC has good history of losing documents. Better write your NVC Case# on top right of every page including the application forms.

Paste a sticky note with NVC Case# on the originals OR write with a Pencil, since these originals are needed in future for some other purpose. It will be difficult to erase any ink writing.

couldnt agree more - i painstakingly put my case # on every doc. you can get labels and stick them on the right hand top corner of each page. for originals, i put a cellophane colorless tape on the original 1st, then put the label on the tape; that way the label can be peeled off. you can use a label maker for this, or just get print labels, but yes, it is an absolute MUST for cases just like this! hope it is just the original that they need (ie you sent in copies instead of the original) and that they didnt lose the original! :thumbs: that would not be good...

04-29-2010: INTERVIEW ASSIGNED FOR JUNE 10TH IN CHENNAI CONSULATE, INDIA; 06-10-2010: INTERVIEW - VISA APPROVED!!!!!
06-18-2010: Entered US - NEW YORK CITY and 08-16-2010: GC received! (nearly 2 months after PoE) woo hoo!
AOS for permanent 10 yr green card:

04-02-2012: NOA of I-751 and 1 yr extension of temp green card

05-03-2012: Biometrics appointment

12-18-2012: 10 yr Green card approved; 12-22-2012: Green card rec'd
