Fill in your timeline so we can see where in your journey you are. If it is after your interview and you got your pink slip, it could be your visa and your DO NOT OPEN envelope, although that should have come by Air21 courier. Hard to say with the information that you have given.

I just found out today after 8 weeks of waiting that my case is denied. Here's the reason of denial " You have admitted to committing acts in violation of any law or regulation of the United States, or of a foriegn country relating to controlled subtance."...My question is how to make a Letter of Appeal or should i get a lawyer for this?

Thank you!

You have to show that you are "rehabilitated" which is usually a timely thing. I am sure people that have been caught up in it will guide you. Sorry but there is no quick fix.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I dont think i need to show them that i had been rehabilitated coz it was only an experimentation... IF they denied me for a reason "You have been abused a controlled subtance" that i need one " Spoke to the girl whos incharge in immigrant visa section and she said they could response me right away soon as i submit a Letter of Appeal.

Admitting Drug use is an automatic denial from USEM. Embassys in other coutries can overlook drug use, but not in Philippines.

I would contact a Immigration Lawyer.

Good Luck.......

In your case, I believe an appeal is better than reapplying. If you apply again, you will be denied again for the same reason. You need a good immigration attorney to handle your appeal. Please read the link provided by Pinay Wife.

Here's another article.

http://www.gurfinkel...m_updates40.htm

"U.S. immigration laws state that a person could be "inadmissible" (or ineligible to go to the U.S.) if he "admits committing acts which constitute the essential elements of … a violation of … any law or regulation of … a foreign country relating to a controlled substance …" In other words, if a person merely admits they violated a drug law, they could be inadmissible, even if they were never caught, arrested, charged, or convicted of violating any drug laws. However, the question needs to be asked: which drug law was violated, and what are the essential elements of that law?"

You do need to get a good immigration lawyer.

Maybe PinayWife can post another useless thread about how admitting to drug use at USEM is not a problem and there is new hope.

Can you post the thread where I said that drug use is not a problem? Telling your fish tales and tall tales again?

Edited to add:

Oh, here it is, I found it:

Here's an interesting article about admitting to drug use at St. Luke's by Atty. Michael Gurfinkel

New hope for people who 'admitted' drug use to doctors at St. Luke's

IMMIGRATION CORNER By Michael J. Gurfinkel

So, where did I say that drug use is not a problem? And just so you know, the title of the article is "New Hope for People Who Admitted Drug Use To Doctors at St. Lukes". The words "new hope" did not come from me.

This has been a double standard with USEM since I started he process in 2007. USEM: We will deny you if we catch you lying, and we will deny you for telling the truth.

Several VJers have been denied for telling the truth. The best post I remember was,"If it was good enough for a president why not an immigrant." with a picture of President Clinton smoking a joint.

Too bad the VJ search does not go back that far.

I hope the lawyer does well for you MJ & S.
