Well if you believe in the Bible or God then you have to believe the earth/universe are only 6,000 years old. But of course the religious people like to pick and choose what fairy tales they wish to believe in. "This verse doesn't count, that one does, I interpret it this way, I interpret the garbage written in the Bible this way..., etc."
