Good Morning,

All we are waiting for now is the interview date to be scheduled. Can anyone tell me what my step-son should expect at the interview? He is only 9 years old and will be accompanied by his Grandmother.

In the list of documents to bring to the interview at the consulate he will be interviewed, it lists the DS-230 part 1 signed and Part 2 not signed. We already submitted these to the NVC. Do we really need to bring another set of these?

Also here is a list of documents to bring, are these correct?:

Appointment Letter

Medical Results

4 Visa Photos

Household registration book

Applicants Birth Certificate

Petitioners Birth Certificate

My marriage certificate to his mother

copy of his passport

evidence of my relationship with his mother

evidence of my step-sons relationship with his mother

Anything Else?

Thanks

The main reason for the delay was us kind of slowing the process down a little by not submitting the AOS and DS-230 as quickly as we could have. The reason we wanted to slow down the process was due to us already having plans to travel to Vietnam for my brother in laws wedding in October. We were not sure if it was neccessary for my wife to attend the interview so we were also waiting on a response from the consulate. They stated anyone living at the applicants same address can attend the interview with my step-son due to him being a minor. Once we knew that, we began moving as quickly as possible since my mother in law could attend his interview. So we have our fingers and toes crossed that my step-son's interview will be in September which will allow us to bring him home with us and complete our family.

Do note that after I submitted the AOS we were waiting for some original documents to be mailed to us from Vietnam. While waiting we received a Checklist response letter stating the DS-230 was missing. We submitted it as soon as we had all documents. Once it was received they did state it would take 6 to 8 weeks to process. It was a little over 6 weeks to be completed. Now we hope and pray things will move at a faster pace and my step-son will have his visa before we return to the U.S.

Shelly,

Thanks for the support, I appreciate it. Does my step-son need to bring another DS-230 to the interview even though we submitted one to NVC? Also can you direct me on how to speak directly to an operator at NVC? I know the phone number, but I don't know after that. I would think that this should be much easier to prove than it was when my wife, and his mother, had her interview. We have proved our relationship 3 times now. At her interview, Adjustment of Status and then the Removal of Conditions. So that should not be a problem. Proving her relationship with her son is simple, birth certificate and other evidence. We have the paper from her ex husband allowing him to move here. So I feel really good that he should get the Visa without any problems, we just pray that it will happen before the middle of October.

Thanks,

Mike

just case you have a different number its 603-334-0700. when the recording comes on they will ask if this is a haiti related case press 1 or if its an immigrant visa petition press 2. so you will press option two then 1 for english then 5 for representative. you should have made a copy of the ds 230 form when you had sent it in..... to be safe bring a copy because sometimes they lose stuff.so hope all things work out for you as it works out for me.

god bless
