What should I do?

I just received a job offer with a specific start date of August 17. I applied for this job a while ago and was interviewed a lot sooner than I thought I would be and they told me that they wanted to hire me right after the interview. I don't have my EAD/AP (this job would require me to be able to travel all over North America). I really don't know what to do -- I've heard of filing an expedite request for EAD but I'm not sure that I meet the criteria, do you not have to demonstrate extreme financial loss? My husband and I saved a lot before we moved here because we knew there would be a period where I wouldn't be able to work and we still have some of those savings. However, he is in university and we will be paying for another semester of tuition here quite soon so I'm wondering if USCIS will take that into consideration? After we pay his tuition we won't have much left in our American accounts but we still have money in Canada ...

I guess my question is ... should I book an Infopass and ask for the expedite EAD/AP or does my situation sound like one that will not qualify?

My EAD and AP were received after 45 days, so you're coming into the timeframe where you can expect them fairly soon.

I would book the InfoPass and give it a try. The worst they can do is say no. Asking at an InfoPass will certainly not prejudice them against you or adversely affect your AOS in any way, so there's certainly no harm in trying, and who knows? It might actually work.

InfoPass appointments usually take a week or two to materialize. With any luck, you'll have your EAD amd AP by then anyways, and can just cancel the appointment.

Call the phone number on your EAD Notice of Action, and ask to speak about this to an operator. They will tell you what you should (or could) do.

Thank you for the advice everyone. I'm really hoping it works out; if I miss out on this job opportunity I'm going to be majorly bummed.
