Just received an email RFE for my I-485 .... words cannot describe how upset I am.

I am assuming it was because I didnt go and see a civial surgeon. The reason I didnt was because I had completed all my immunisations before entering the US..

Back to waiting on this again.. I cannot wait for the day I do not need to deal with immigration again. Its so disappointing :crying:

awww!! so sorry to hear! I guess this is why I went to one and got it all done at once! Don't worry, just bring all your immunization documents and the doctor looked me over again and I paid $292!

Oh and I never received my biometrics letter.. Will the fact I received an RFE delay the biometrics letter? My NOA1 date was the 17th of November and I can see that people after me have already received their letters.

I am surprised that you got an RFE before the biometrics letter. If it is in fact related to I-693 (Medical) than I understand that the first thing they would want to make sure is that your documents are complete - which could be why you got your RFE before your biometrics.

I dont see why Biometrics, which has to be done regardless, will be delayed but from what I have read cases will come to halt until they receive the RFE along with the evidence. I think you would get your bio letter without RFE related delay - I say that because some people are facing long delays getting their bio letter.

Also, if you had done your immunization before coming here (assuming on K1), you could have taken the proof of that to the civil surgeon to inscribe/fill the form based on that information/evidence. I heard they charge even for that but its usually less than doing a full exam. Somewhere on VJ there is a thread specifically on this...

I think when a RFE is issued, all work on a case is suspended until they receive whatever is missing, but I am not sure if that applies to a routine thing like the biometrics. I'm sorry to hear about the RFE. I'm sure that's frustrating and disappointing. :(

Yeah, there's a thread for Civil Surgeons. I think it's called "Civil Surgeons who dont rip you off". I think the rate that most people pay to just have their DS-3025 translated is $25-$50, depending on where you go. I paid $50 and it was a pretty easy process.

It might not be in regards to the medical. I only sent in the vaccination supplement I received after my medical and so far I haven't had a RFE. A June filer was recently approved for their GC and had only sent in the vaccination supplement... they had no RFEs

It's a roll of the dice. I remember reading in the March 2010 filers thread that Alex and Astrid did not send in the I-693 and she got approved in 37 days. On the other hand, other folks have gotten RFE's for not sending it in, so who knows. That's what happens when your dealing with a large bureaucratic agency.

Hang in there. Filipinay was starting to panic too and then all of a sudden it showed up. Filipinay's packet was delivered 8/20 and the acceptance email was received 9/1.

We paid $75 for our DS-3025. It wasn't strictly necessary, as L's 3025 was marked as complete, but we decided we'd rather pay the $75 and not have to wait for a RFE.

In other news, all three of our receipt numbers are in the USCIS system and we got touched today on all three.
