Some people have their petitions at the embassy in under 3 weeks from filing, others have waited more than a year. Unfortunately, there's really no way to give a firm answer to that question. The best thing that I can suggest is to keep your plans flexible and have a back up plan..

N-400

a backup plan?

By that I just mean, if you can't have Wedding A, be (mentally) prepared to celebrate Wedding B. And that could include celebrating it outside of the U.S. and taking a different approach. Not that you should expect any problems, but you should definitely discuss "What if?" and be prepared for anything this process may throw you.

I haven't had any real problems other than my wait for approval seems to be longer than the current average, but I've seen some real horror stories here on VJ and , as such, I know we're planning for anything that may come our way.

Again, keep things flexible - dates, plans, etc..

Best of luck!

counting from the day we submit the I-129F until the date of interview were almost 7 months, keep in mind that a RF or a AP may occur during the process and it increases the time in 1-2 months or even more

We can all make a difference. Please recycle

Hi there. I'm from Oklahoma and my fiance is from the UK. We started this process (finally) on June 1, and got an approval in 22 days before it was sent to the NVC and now it's at the consulate. I will tell you up front that this speed is almost unheard of, but right now people who are filing through Vermont are getting lightning fast approvals with overflow help from the Lewisville, TX site. Hopefully the luck will hold out.

The first thing you should do is read the guides and flow charts on here and take a look at the sample forms. They are VERY helpful. You can learn a lot and help make the process easier and smoother.

If you need any help or have any questions, please feel free to send a message. There are plenty of us with UK fiance/e's out here. Good luck on your journey!
