Hi guys, I'm new here. I just want to ask 2 questions regarding my case. To give you a background to help you help me. I'm 29 years old and my father is my petitioner, a U.S. citizen. I received an email regarding my interview schedule on July 15, 2010 (my priority date is March 1999).

So on July 15, I was interviewed by the consul but denied. I was given an instruction to submit another document, "Proof of F2B Status Retention", which is all about the CSPA which unfortunately we've missed to comply years ago. We didn't realize that I was transferred from F2B category to F-1.

I'm in Manila, Philippines.

My questions are:

1. How long does the U.S. Embassy take to process and approve a CSPA opt-out request (revoking F-1 category to retain my F2B status)?

2. Will the U.S. Embassy send me an approved document or just submitting the CSPA opt-out letter of request along with the required documents good enough to receive my visa? I'll be submitting it this coming week.

Thank you in advance!

Hi, I do not think you were denied of a visa. There is only a delay on its issuance. Your visa will be issued after you have submitted your F2B retention approval. I just dont have an idea how long will it take for the approval after you have submitted the your written request to opt-out and other documents they require to opt-out.

You were not denied a visa.

You have been given more time to submit what they are asking of you.

please read all of http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/110854-child-aging-out-cspa-may-help/

and be aware of your age, for the NOA-1 receipt notice your father received, back in 1999.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
