Hi Folks,

As my K-3 got approved so now i need I-134 for my wife.

But i have only checking account in bank. I never opened a savings account. Will this BE something which could be a potential problem. My financial position is very sound( BTW I am practicing surgeon) and my emplyemnet letter is very strong too.But the only thing right now I have is employment letter, previous tax returns, previous pay stubs and checking account which has some good amount of money. Will this be enough? any suggestions of any kind ! Someone told me that checking account carries no significance regardless the amount of money one can have in it.! This is tricky and I need your expert opinion.

To dont have to have a Saving account. Its good have one but it is not required. Just put your annual income and job letter should be enough. However, you can send a copy of yoru checking acount bank letter for sponsorship. It gives a 3-6 months average balance, but again you are not required. As long as you have a sound job(and you sounds like you do..)

You have nothing to worry about, chill, just chill. The government wants to be sure your wife will not be on public assistance, they know you are going to make well above the poverty level. Savings accounts are usually only seen as evidence that you have money.

i am in the opposite situation. i dont have checking account. i have savings account.

Not true, as far as immigration is concerned.

They really are bureaucrats, and they really do follow their guidelines, pretty much. If you can demonstrate steady income sufficient to meet the affidavit of support guidelines, you don't need to show ANY savings or other assets. If you have a shortfall of income, you can use assets to make up for that shortfall, but it doesn't matter whether those assets are in a checking account, savings account, or an investment vehicle more suited to longer term investments, as long as the assets can be turned into cash easily.

This isn't like a mortage application where they want to know everything about you, and a higher score may qualify you for a lower rate. You just need to show that you're above the minimum guidelines.
