Wrong birth city/state on parent on G-325a

Hello everyone,

On the form G-325a I listed my father's birth city information as one thing, but I just noticed on my birth certificate it lists another state. I am not sure which is correct, me or the birth certificate. I will be definitely calling him in the morning. But in the meantime, I am trying to find out if I need to worry and try to correct the G-325a (if it is wrong...even my sister thought he was born in the state I listed ).

If the birth certificate turns out to be incorrect, then I will get that corrected, but should I try to send a corrected one to USCIS since they have a copy of the incorrect one? If so, how do I accomplish either, correcting the G-325a or sending a corrected birth cert?

Update: I checked with my Dad and I am correct on th G-325a. So now I am in the process of correcting my birth certificate. I still need to know if I should try and send a corrected birth cert to USCIS? Or if I should even worry about it?

IMO don't worry about it. It can be difficult to get extra information matched up with your petition if you send it to USCIS unsolicited. If they have a problwm with it they will let you know but my guess is it will not come up. Let us know how things go. Good luck!

Record in Nigeria are terrible. Are the 2 places close ? Just be prepared to be asked about it. I know place names change over the years ,even here in the US. It shouldn't be a big deal.

I have sort of come to that conclusion as well, if they want it they will ask. I am getting ready to correct my copy and in order to do that, I need to get a copy of my Dad's BC as well as my sister's (we have the same Dad, but different Mother's).
