my husband says he saw me on a trip to his country 4 years before we started dating (i don't remember him, he was just one in the sea of people but he had a solid detailed memory of my visit). i met him in 2004 in his country when i was vacationing/training with a boy i liked (obviously that didn't work out, want to know if someone is right for you...travel together). a month later he got a visa to the u.s and shortly thereafter we started dating...got married in 2007. wow been a long time!

I met my wife in Hong Kong while visiting an American friend who is a flight instructor for Cathay Pacific airlines. I didn't go there to fall in love but that is what happened. We had instant chemistry. Probably because neither one of us were expecting to find a mate at that point, we were totally ourselves and had our guards down.

Timeline

she was my classmate in 1st grade (7 yrs old), she was the cutest in our class and became my first crush but she didn't like me then. :P

my family moved after 3rd grade while my future wife's family went to America the following year.

we didn't have any communication from 1988 until year 2000 when I saw her e-mail address in one of our old classmate's e-mail.

we exchanged pictures then decided to meet when she visited the Philippines in 2003 (the 1st time she went back since she left in 1989).

we started our long distance relationship (or ON-LINE relationship)after her visit.

she visited me again in 2004 then petitioned me the same year.

we got married in 2005 here in California and our 1st baby was born 4 months ago. :)

@Kang and matalie: I didn't like my hubby at first too! He was friends with an ex-friend. So since I hated that ex-friend, I kinda disliked him in the beginning too. Plus, Americans seem cocky although they're actually just confident.

As for my story, hubby and I met at a friend's Despedida (Going away party). We probably have seen each other prior to that because we hang out with the same group of people and the clubbing scene in Manila is pretty small. His friends were my frineds. It's odd how we never got introduced. We didn't meet sooner because we had our own thing going on and was dating other people. During dinner, the moment he saw me, he told our friend that I was gonna be his girlfriend. It was "like at first sight" for him. I thought he was just one of the guys I'd flirt with so I played along. Turns out he was serious. After a month of being together as a couple, he had to go back to the US to manage the family business. We were apart for 8 months then he came to visit me in the Middle East. A month after, a wonderful surprise came, our baby boy. We got married after a year of being together.

For some reason, I always end up liking guys who grew up in the west. Our characters jive better because they're more open-minded and they can definitely take my humor and sarcasm.

***warning...long read*** :)

the bible said "love thy neighbor"....so i married her. our story:

i met my wife when i was about 9 years old when i was still in the Philippines. i actually didn't meet her meet her, but her family moved into the neighborhood into her grandmother's house down the street. the first time i saw her, i already really liked her. i would always say hi to her..but she was mataray and didn't say anything back. then after about a year or so, my whole family migrated to the US. almost almost 10 years go by and i decide to go back to the Philippines to study for college. but i did not stay at our old neighborhood...but i go back to our old house (my cousin lives in it) whenever my cousin comes back (he's a seaman) and hang out with him and the people from the neighborhood. each time i saw my wife's cousin, i would ask him about her...how she's been and ask him to tell her i said hello. and each time i saw the cousin, i would ask what she said and he would say nothing. so i just thought she was still mataray (she still is actually...LOL), so i just let it go.

after a year of being back....one of my visits to my cousin, his wife told me that somebody was walking down the street towards the house. i didn't think nothing of it. and then i saw her walk through their gates!!! she came over to bring mail for my cousin that was delivered to their house by mistake and to use their phone. and all i can do was smile. yup!!...was tongue-tied when i saw her again. i was like...wow!!...she's grew up really pretty!!...LOL. but sad to say, she didn't say anything to me. so when she was walking out...my cousin asked her if she knew me. she looked at me and smiled...and said no and asked who i was. so my cousin told her who i was. we said our hellos, asked me how long i was gonna be at my cousins, and told me to swing by their house on my way home for a short chit chat.

didn't end up going home that night but i did go to her house and chatted with her...'til about 3 in the morning. and it just started from there! when she found out how long i've been back she was asking me why i didn't come by sooner to say hi, i told her i kept asking her cousin about her. she said he never said anything to her.

sorry guys for the long story....but me and the wife never get tired of talking about those times we started dating.

I travelled to many countries including the Philippines and had determined that was where the best chances were for finding exactly what I was looking for.

After meeting her in the Philippines I was amazed at how many times we were asked with suspicion: "did you meet on the internet...?"

I didn't understand why that was treated with such contempt. I finally demanded to know why.

Well apparently a lot of Filipinas make money by stripping on webcams.

So therefore I joined Yahoo Chat group and have offered to strip for money. And you know, I haven't made any money at all yet.

I just don't understand.

Just a small town girl

Livin' in a lonely world

She took the midnight train

Goin' anywhere

Just a city boy

Born and raised in South Detroit

He took the midnight train

Goin' anywhere

A singer in a smokey room

A smell of wine and cheap perfume

For a smile they can share the night

It goes on and on and on and on

Sorry, another drive-by post here. Over in the RUB forum, some of us that did not meet on the internet are met with suspicion and disbelief. I kid around about finding a web catalogue special on women my wife's age and just splurging (drives her crazy). Apparently lots of people simply cannot believe you could meet any one from another country casually.
