Hi-

So I am going to request a copy of my tax returns from the IRS.

The only problem is...it says for actual returns, you need to allow 60 calender days to recieve them!

I dont even know if that will be enough time since the embassy already has our papers and I would hate to have them schedule an interview if we didnt have em!

Does anyone know..do you need an actual copy of the return? or can you submit a transcript or tax account transcript? This would make a huuuuuuuge difference in the amount of time it took to get em!

The IRS website says:

"These transcripts may be acceptable substitutes for an actual copy of the return by the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services and lending agencies for student loans and mortgages. Check with your agency or lender to be sure".

But without having Packet 3 yet, I dont know for sure.

We are going through London embassy.

Hello.

Did you call this IRS number 1-800-829-1040? If so, transcripts arrive at your home within 7-10 days... I requested 3 years tax returns for me and my co-sponsor in 2 different calls and recieved all of them within 4 business days.

BTW - transcripts are perfectly fine..

You lose your returns, ####### happens.. They have copies :)
