Hello,

We just received my Wife's interview appointment letter via e-mail. Now I'm wondering if we should hire a lawyer to help with interview prep such as organizing paperwork, interview questions and such. Our case is a CR1 Visa. The interview is August 3, 2010. If it's a good idea to hire someone, then who do you guys recommend? She said she found someone but he wants $550 and from what I've seen of his track record I think I could probably do his job. The last person he helped took 2 years to get a Visa for Canada. Also worried about the medical exam. My wife's not used to taking on responsibility without help.

P.S. We haven't been able to get this far without VisaJourney's help. Thanks in advance.

IMO Save the money and do everything yourself. If you've handled all the necessary documents so far, its nothing new to you.

You can also do the interview prep yourself. There are a ton of threads here with sample interview questions you can use. Just make sure she answers the questions with confidence and doesn't lie. She already should know personal questions about you, friends, family, hobbies, likes, dislikes, town you live in , job, ect. Make sure she knows what was put on the forms you have submitted.

As for the medical, does she have a friend or family member that can go with her?

Good luck!

If you are at the interview stage you don't need marc ellis or any lawyer. Maybe just a Dich Vu place to get all the paperwork organized and pick out good pictures and ultimately get the beneficiary ready for interview with letting them know what to expect.

I agree with ALL, you don't need to hire any lawyer. You both could sit down and organizeing paperwork, and practice on interview questions.

Good luck.

Marc doesn't do interview prep. He refers people to his VN colleague Mr. Nam. I hired Mr. Nam because we had two days to go before the interview, and Phuong was very nervous. We had three sessions with Mr. Nam, and he gave her a ton of questions to study. This gave her something to focus on so she could feel like she was doing something constructive. In the end, it wasn't necessary because they only asked her a few questions, but it did help Phuong to relax and that alone was worth the cost. If your fiancee is confident and doesn't crack under stress then paying an attorney for interview prep would probably be a waste of money.

I heard about him reading through VJ. So I thought he will get things done for me. And what happened? I went through hell with Marc Ellis and his co partner, so I would NEVER recommend him. I lost $500 + $100 consulation fee with that office after I dropped him to represent me. He charged $2,000 and $600 was down payment. When I saw his name on a discussion here, I just have to raise my opinion and write my own experience. Oh btw, I saw 5 couple in his office during my time there and they were not treated well. That should have send a red flag for me.
