What is transit visa?Pls help urgent

Pls help to understand this. My husband just booked a flight today and after that he got an email it was said that might need a TRANSiT VISA in japan? We are going to USA , my husband is not required to bcoz it says USC dont need transit visa. How about me? The ticket was so expensive, and the flight is this coming friday...does it emans i have to get a japan visa??? thanks a lot pls help

If you don't plan on leaving the airport, you shouldn't need a transit visa. My sweetiepie is coming to the US via Delta Air Lines in a few days via Japan, and no visa is required. She just has to go shopping in the Hello Kitty store during her layover.. :rofl:

Hi there..thanks a lot...got a lil relievd..so shes on her way now there and now in japan for a stop over and did not have a hard time on japan immigration? Our stop over there is only 3 hrs and 40 mins.....

umm.. if i remember it right you will really not going to pass the immigration just the x-ray machine then proceed to your next gate

Interesting that Japan does not require a transit visa, despite its stringent immigration laws. Is that because on a connecting international flight, the passengers never leave the international terminal? In the US, transit visas are required, but you also could easily leave the airport while making a connection.

My Pinay wife stopped in Japan on her way to the States. She did not need a transit visa and she did not pass through customs. She did not leave the airport. She simply showed her boarding pass for the next flight.

Where did you hear that? I know people that have had to obtain them, and a search of the internet turns up plenty of information about transit visas.

Merlaine connected in Japan at Nagoya and didn't need any other visas. I think if you're going to lay over long enough that you'd need a hotel (need to leave the airport), pass through customs/security, etc., then you'd need the transit visa. The Delta flight she took was only there long enough to deboard the plane so it could fuel and take on Japanese passengers. You won't pass through immigration or security there so you'll be fine

Usually a transit visit is needed if you go to say Japan and spend the night downtown, then continuing on to the US the following day. If you have a simple layover waiting on your follow-on flight in Japan, transit visa is not needed. Relax, you are fine.
