Clearance delays at Guangzhou

Our paperwork left NVC on 6/8 and arrived at Guangzhou on 6/12, but has been at "clearance delay" now for 16 days. Is that normal?

The package weighs six pounds, so I wouldn't think there would be too much paperwork for customs to look at.

Yes, is normal.

Could be 2 to 4 months of 'waiting time', as well, before GUZ IV actually gets it.

Paper casefiles are stored in bonded customs warehouse

see http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/iv_k1/k2.html

step 2.

Sorry. You MIGHT get lucky, get some speed. Maybe.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

my experience is DHL tracking P2 to GUZ is not accurate. the one i was tracking suppose to have my file in it is still showing Clearance delay on DHL website, I actually found out they actually got it 5 days later after NVC sent it out. So the thing you should do is call DOS or email GUZ find out if they have received your file.

normal...

Yes, normal to wait in storage for 6 to 12 weeks but be aware you don't actually know anything about your package for sure. You'll never actually know if the package you're tracking contains your case file.

yup yup

The bit that is important, really, is 'casefile opened at GUZ' followed up by 'Packet 3 sent'

and those 2 bits o status are available via telephone, from DoS Hotline. # in my profile, have a look, and call.

Well, it turns out that shipment was not ours after all. The consulate opened a case file on 6/23 and we got the P3 today on 7/1.

Pardon - I really gotta laugh at this one.

But in a good way. I know ppl get scrunched up about tracking that DHL package, but - always, regardless of country - the 2 things that matter are - 1] casefile opened and 2] Packet 3 sent out.

COOL ! Yay !!!

IMO, GUZ and NVC used 'safefile solely' to xmit the casefile. If they actually took it all through DHL, then may be some sign that the casefile backlog from China Customs has dropped to minimal amount.

YAY !

Thanks.

We were did not have much confidence that the shipment was ours or not, but like many have said before, it would be nice if they would tell you the actual tracking number to avoid so much speculation.

By the way, she got her P3 today, but it was pretty much empty (one sheet of paper), just a letter to say to read the enclosed instructions carefully, lol.
