I'm almost ready to get started on filing AOS for my wife. This may be a stupid question (or wishful thinking), but do I have to pay the amount for EACH application (AOS, EAD, AP) or is that only if filing separately?

AOS = $325 + $70 biometrics

EAD = $180 + $70 biometrics

AP = $170

I assume in the very least that I only need to pay the biometrics once, so that brings the total cost to $745?? Is that right? Or do I get out of the EAD and AP since I'll be sending them all together?

If you want an EAD and/or AP you have to pay for them.

I'm not sure about the 2 x $70 for Biometrics, someone will come along shortly and answer that for you :)

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Big chunk of change, huh? I didn't bother with AP but shelled out $180 for EAD, only to have AOS move so quickly that the EAD was never issued. So that was a waste of money, but you never know if your AOS process will take two months or two years. Sigh.

To answer your questions:

1) Yes, personal checks are accepted and recommended.

2) Write separate checks for AOS/biometrics, EAD, and AP. That way if one application get sent back for some reason or other, the others can proceed.

See attached! I have broken down the costs for filing AOS, as well as Estimated additional costs, B)

We filed ourselves and it cost us less than 1000.00 USD

We did not apply for AP, and probably realise now that we wasted our money on the EAD since our interview is on day 96 and EAD usually comes within 90 days :angry:

I have also included an example of cover sheets and cover letter, this is how we sent everything in.

I hope the attached helps

No kidding what a rip, Govt. should reimburse those who pay for EAD and don't need or use it.

If you file EAD with I-485 you only pay the Biometrics fee once, you will get seperate Biometrics appts

(usually on same day) but will only have to pay $70.00
