Hello all,

I seem to have difficulty find out what are the requirements for visa for green card holder to visit Hong Kong, the Philippines. I mean, what do they call the green card holder in general? US Residents? Oppose to US Nationals?

Thank you very much!

other terms -

LPR - 'Legal Permanent Resident'

In general, though - the holder of the passport must apply for a visa to the foreign country. This is not the case when travelling to Canada or Mexico (is special reg on that, no tourist visa required)

Specifically, it makes sense to review each country's EMBASSY WEB PORTAL, review the requirements for a tourist visa.

Good Luck ! (my apologies for the vagueness )

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

For the Philippines:

I have just copied number 6 on the requirements.

"Nationals of countries which have diplomatic relations with the Philippines are generally allowed entry into the country without visas for a stay of twenty one (21) days or less, provided the nature of the trip is for tourism only and are holders of round trip or onward travel airline ticket. US passport holders are covered under this rule. For non-US passport holders applying for a visa, a copy of the Alien Registration Card or proof of legal residency in the US is required. However, children under 15 years of age who are unaccompanied by or not coming to a parent are required to have a Waiver of Exclusion Ground (WEG). Please sec par. 5 above."

For the most part the Visa requirements to visit other countries, are based on ones citizenship, not their green card status. Although having a Green Card may help when applying for a visa in some countries.
