POE JFK (places to eat)

We wil be arriving at JFK and probable will not get through immigrations and customs till 530-600 at night. Are there any nice places to sit down and grab a bit to eat so we don't have to drive home in traffic? It would be nice to relax and unwind and start traveling back to CT after the traffic has settled down around 800-830. Any ideas, please let me know.

Not too far from JFK is Astoria, many restaurants and lounges. All kinds of foods. You can also stop and take a view of Manhattan from Astoria Park.

Start heading back home and stop at City Island - cute little shops and restaurants, we usually break up a drive back from south with a stop there - great food too. It's easy to get on and off the highway, too - from either 95 or the Hutch.

Nope - think there is a Dunkin Donuts - otherwise, not much near the airport.

The ones I referred to are all after you get through customs (many on the "wrong" side of a domestic security check, others in ticketting area). Admittedly, these WILL be overpriced but they are convenient--you can eat at one of the ticketting-area places before exiting to parking, and then drive home "nicely".

OK, never mind, I just googled it -

Here is a list - http://www.panynj.gov/airports/jfk-shops-restaurants-services.html - International flights fly into Terminal 4.

Another option would be to go over to the hotels near the airport - many have restaurants

So which way do we go once we leave the customs area and walk out into the greeting area. Im assuming will will not walk out to the shuttle pick up, do we go left or right?

Are you guys renting a car? If driving you don't really have to limit yourself to the airport. In queens there are a lot of places to eat, If it's a quick

bite just do a quick search for Golden Krust, it's a carribean fast food restaurant with jerk Chicken, Roti, Cola champagne, all varieties of Beef paties

if not into beef yu can get chicken, veggie, fish, that's one of my favorite when I am in NYC.

From the airport you can take Van Wyck Expressway toward Whitestone Bridge.

One the way there, you can stop at Jamaica Avenue, on Jamaica Avenue there are all kind of restaurant there, if nothing like you, you can take a quck

drive just few blocks off to Hillside ave, it all comes down to what's your taste bud at the time you are there.

To be Honest it doesn't really matter much on the time, there's always traffic on 678.

I am honestly not sure, Matt - As many times as I have flown back from JA and through there, I have never noticed a restaurant after the customs area! Guess I am in a hurry to get out of there, lol! If you are talking about the shuttle from long term parking, you would go to the right, around the corner and up the escalator to the airtrain - So maybe the restaurants are to the left (since I always go to the airtrain!).

Yea me neither, I have gone through there so many times and I always go left and outside to catch my shuttle to my car. Guess will just keep our eyes open this time...
