Ill be having my interview on tuesday for my adjustment of status.. Do they tell us if we are approved or denied?

My father was passed away so i need to know if i can go back to my country for the burial. Is there a special consideration for an emergency like this. I will come fo rmy interview and i wil ask them if i can travel...

I am so sorry for your loss (F) (F)

They should be able to tell you at the interview if you are approved or not. Explain to the interviewer that your father has just passed away and you need to travel to the Philippines as soon as you can make travel arrangements to attend the funeral. If your AOS is approved, ask the interviewing officer to put the I-551 stamp in your passport - that is basically the same as the green card and will allow you to return to the US the same as the actual 'green card' would do. Bring along proof of your father's passing as evidence for the emergency. If you do not receive a decision right away you can still travel with an Advance Parole - if you don't have one, you can apply right away for an emergency AP. Again, you will need to bring proof of your father's passing.

Good luck at your interview, and again, I am very sorry about your father's passing.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
