hi , Got here just recently, I would like to ask question " how long do immigrants( CR1) usually wait for an SS number/ID?"

I have clicked on YES in the DS230 form ,that NVC can request for my SS number.

Mhay got hers about 2 weeks after her arrival. She did her POE on 8 May and got her SS card on 18 May....POE was Guam. We are still waiting on her greencard though.

Removal of conditions Journey

16 March 2012 Sent I-751 package from Aviano AB, Italy.

29 March 2012 Received everything back...wrong fee. thought we didn't have to pay biometrics since we were sending fingerprint cards and passport photos.

30 March 2012 Sent everything out again from Aviano AB, Italy.

10 April 2012 Check cashed

17 April 2012 Received NOA1 dated 6 April.

06 Dec 2012 Received 10 yr green card. Letter said it was approved 28 November 2012.

Does it matter where your point of En try is? Cause mine was Seattle and it is a very busy airport for a point of entry. missed my next plane to Anchorage but Alaska Airlines managed to have me and my husband on th next flight which is just an hour interval from my original flight. ,so not bad thanks for the reply

It all depends. Some get their SSN in 2-3 weeks and others never receive theirs.

If you are in a hurry to get a SSN, you can always walk in a local SSA office and apply for one.

I also checked yes on my DS-230, but I applied for my SSN 5 days after my POE and it came in a mail 10 days later.

I dont know if it makes a difference, but that is why I posted Mhay's POE. I am assuming it all depends on how quick they send the stuff into the USCIS to do the greencard and everything. I would wait for 2 weeks...if you dont get it, go to the nearest SS office.
