Hi there everyone...

We are in the fortunate position that our K-1 is going through much faster than we anticipated. We will have the K-1 approval for about 3 months before I use it. Once the K-1 has been approved, can I travel to the US as a visitor, or does it have to be on the K-1? We've decided that it makes sense to wait just a little longer so that we have a really good deposit for a house - my income in Sydney is very good and we'll be in a much better situation financially if we wait. But, we're really missing one another and need some time together before I go over permanently. I just have a feeling though that once the K-1 is in my passport that I won't be able to travel on a tourist visa. What about if I can show that my employment contract here in Sydney is still ongoing and that I will be returning to complete this?

I would really appreciate any help anyone can give me on this... thanks so much.

Mark and Allison. :)

It is up to the CBP officer at the POE. Canadians have been successful doing this on a limited basis.... I have not heard that others have been successful... The likely outcome will be a K-1 entry or a turn back....

YMMV
