Green Card means authorized to work???

I filed for AOS together with Employment authorization for my wife. She has not received the employment authorization card yet. But today she received a letter from USCIS that reads " welcome to the United States of America".

It also states that, " We will soon mail you a new Permanent Resident Card. You should receive it within the next 3 weeks."

Question is: will they mail employment authorization card separately or receiving the Permanent Resident Card is also the authorization to work?

Do I have to take the Permanent resident card to Social security office to get her social security card updated too?

YES to GC for auth to work.

Yes to take GC to SS for SS card.

Ditto to LIFE'S JOURNEY.

Check the SSA website. They have a list of what you need to bring for SSN application.
