when i send in all the things that make up evidence for a bonifide marriage can i copy some christmas cards/b day cards or receipts from sending money, and write like on the paper saying "xmas card 2009" or "these are receipts from remit home" or is all the photocopied evidence self explanatory? what did you do?

Photocopies with a description is ok, but like you said something are self explanatory. Make sure you have a cover letter with the description of each item/doc. in the packet....Make two copies keep one for a back up.

i made a mini-table of contents, listing the evidence types.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Mhay took originals with her (the actual cards). they took a few and they were returned with her visa. Dont know if this is standard procedure, but that is the way it worked for us. having photocopies of that stuff is good enough though. You havent submitted the I-130 yet have you (you are still going spouse visa right)? You dont have to go crazy with the evidence now, but save most of it for the interview.

ya, to me, "send in all things", makes me assume he/she is filling out the I-130 petition, and prepping the bonafide marriage evidence for I-130 intitial submittal, and NOT gathering things up for interview day.
