I think if you have two good proofs, then that will be enough if you are a fair amount over the poverty line. If you are borderline, then they might look at it more closely.

Some proofs--

Tax return (important)

Letter from employer

Pay stubs-- (3-6)

Joint bank accounts are more common proof of financial co-mingling. However, the USCIS will not base your approval based solely on this.

What evidence of financial co-mingling do you have? Joint leases? Credit card statements? Utilities? Car loans? Medical/life/car insurance? Gym memberships?

They will look for these common types of evidence. The more documentation you have, the stronger your case is, IMO.

I actually didn't have ANY joint evidence, none at all.

I couldn't get onto his bank account because they need too much ID to add people and we had nothing else I could be added joint to.

I don't suggest doing what I did going to an interview with the only evidence as letters from family/wedding cards/wedding photos... but I still got approved anyway.

Just gather up all that you can with both your name on it and your wifes name, and then hope for the best. I was pretty well prepared but we got a guy that was really strict, it was like that bad karate teacher in The Karate Kid, remember how strict he was with his students, scares the hell out of you, this guy really was so picky about every little thing. It was like running from Freddy in Nightmare on elm street, I was really scared.

They put us in separate rooms and questioned us with video cameras. That is really uncalled for, I am a US Citizen that did nothing wrong and just wants a happy life with my new wife, I shouldn't get treated this way. But in the end, all was ok, the second interviewer guy was a lot nicer than the first guy. I'm so glad, because I was would have sued them if they caused me any trouble.

So, make sure you and your wife know everything about each other just in case. What you ate last night, what you did last night, what you ate for breakfast, what did she eat for breakfast, what you did last weekend, what you ate last weekend. Did you have sex last night, did you have sex the night before. What time do you see each other each day. You really have to know everything about each other. It's not right when you are truly married and have done nothing wrong, but what can you do, so be prepared for the worst.
