Hello!

So my Japanese wife and I are in China at the moment, and we're working on changing her status from temporary to permanent (sorry if I got the wrong terminology).

We received the letter from Immigration Services that says she has an ASC appointment in Boston (where we normally reside) on the 25th of this month. We have her application number and reference number. She will be back in the States in July, which is before her interview scheduled.

We would like to reschedule this ASC appointment so she can do it after she gets back to the states July 13th.

We have tried to call the USCIS 1-800-375-5283 number and have been unable to reach a live person, as I see from the forums is the case with many people.

Even the "get to the address change thing" didn't work for us though - it gives us the "call back between 8am and 4pm" working hours line, but we are in fact calling within that time period.

Any advice for us on how we can reschedule the ASC appointment? I am aware that rescheduling will delay the process and all, but that's totally fine with us.

Thanks for any help at all!

You have to write to your ASC, where it is scheduled. Most likely you need the original notice and if I remember correctly there is a box to check off to reschedule.

I recently had to call them to change the date on my biometrics and this is what I did, I call the 800 # I chose option 3 for address change when the come on I get honest with them and tell them I was not getting through with option 2 so if i can be tranfered to the dept to change my bio date, they ask me to verify my info and then ask if there were anything else they could do, then they ask for my local office or state and city then they tranfered me, it was that easy. I was told by the lady who came on that I could walk in if I knew I was not going to make it for that date, but if I miss it then I would have to reschdule. She did my reschedule and I was on my way a week after.
