Ok, so I am filling out the affidavit of support and I am confused about what I should put for my income. I made about $24,000 last year however my W2 form says $18,000 in the box that has total income. The other $6000 is my per diem rate from my job which is tax free money from the governement. Now I know that both number are above the poverty guiideline but I think the $24,000 sounds a lot better. I am submitting my income tax form with the affidavit. Do you think they people reading my form will wonder about the missing $6,000 if I put the $24,000 as my income? They extra $6,000 can be seen on my W2 form in another box. Will this be confusing when they read my form? I really dont know which one to choose. Thanks

Tax exempt income is generally still income. Whether the consular officer will see it on your W2 depends on how observant he is. Whether he will consider it in weighing the public charge determination is difficult to say. If he believes that the income can be relied on in the future, then he probably would consider it. All together, that's a lot of depending on the consular officer seeing things your way. It would probably be prudent to line up a co-sponsor, just in case.

The I-134 doesn't need to be notarized, though some consulates still say it should be notarized on their websites and/or in their interview instructions.

Hmmm, I don't need a co-sponsor. I meet the income requirement. But thanks for your response!

18'000 would be under the 125% poverty line most consulates use even for the I-134....
