DS230 for Step-Son

Good Morning,

I am getting ready to file the DS230 for my Step Son who is 9 years old.

Could someone please verify that the supporting documents listed is all we need to send to NVC:

Personal Cover Letter

NVC Bar Coded Cover Sheet

Two (2) passport size photographs of Benefciary (NVC case # and beneficiary's full name written on theback of both)

DS230 Part 1 Completed and signed by Beneficiary's mother with (Mother) written next to signature

DS230 Part 2 Completed and unsigned

Certified Copy of Beneficiary's Birth Certificate and copy

Certified Translation of Beneficiary's Birth Certificate and copy

Certified Copy of Divorce Decree for Beneficiary's Mother (Petitioner's Wife) and Father and copy

Certified Translation of Divorce Decree for Beneficiary's Mother (Petitioner's Wife) and Father and copy

Certified Copy of Marriage Certificate between Petitioner and Beneficiary's Mother and copy

Certified Copy of Beneficiary's Passport and copy

Child Quit Claim (Stamped copy of letter from Petitioner's father allowing him to come live in the US with his mother and I) IS THIS NEEDED AT THIS STAGE???

Do I the petitioner need a copy of my birth certificate?

Any help is greatly appreciated. At this time I have everything except a certified copy of our marriage certificate as I have sent it in the mail to the beneficiary for the interview. I would assume I need to get another one to send in with the DS230. Also is a copy or a certified copy need to be sent in with the DS230?

Yes the letter giving permission from father to move child is needed. The petitioner birth certificate isn't needed with DS230.

Should I submit the original Child Quit Claim Paper? I thought a copy would be ok at this point and the original at the interview, but maybe I am wrong.

NVC wants originals. Definately make a copy to keep in your file.

After concern about what document to submit taking into consideration what papers the HCMC Consulate requests at the interview and what papers I thought needed to be submitted with the DS230, I called NVC. This is what I was told:

Since my case is for a step-son relationship the papers required are as follows:

Copy of Biographic page of Beneficiary Passport

Certified Copy of Birth Certificate

Original or Certified Copy of Custody Paper regarding Beneficiary (Child Quit Claim and/or Custody Paper)

Passport Pictures

That is it. I asked about the Divorce paper between the Beneficiary's Mother (my wife and her ex, and Marriage Certificate between Beneficiary's mother and the Petitioner (me). She said that they are not required to turn in with the DS230 and can be presented at the interview, but if I wanted to submit them then I could do so. I am concerned about them being available for the interview if I send them to the NVC. Any Suggestions? Also any suggestions on the safest mail carrier for sending AOS and DS230 info to Beneficiary????
