Hi all,

Out of curiosity I popped over to the April2010 filers group and it seems a lot of folks are getting cards just now/interviewing. Soooo....wondering if this means we have a few more weeks until we hear something?

Jessica

From my observation, i think the last approval for the transferred cases were those transferred on the 1st or 2nd June. I've not seen any approval after that. (for May filers).

We had our AOS interview today and were approved: yay!

Sorry to be negative at a happy time like this, but I had to ask the forum...

The woman who interviewed us asked if we got our AP. We said yes, four days ago. She took the AP away from us, saying "if you need to leave the country before you get your green card, you can schedule an infopass."

We also got our EAD card in the mail today.

I spent a lot of time and money on AP and EAD, and they appear to be pointless. We had AP for all of 4 days, and our EAD came just a few days before the green card. Is this normal? Is the government just ripping us off? Did we spend extra money for EAD and AP with our $1010 AOS application, or is there no way to spend less than that?

Just a little peeved at how our extra labor meant nothing.

Hi Rito,

Nice to meet you and Congratulations on your approval!! I'm from June filer but I check May forum. And I actually had my interview on the 16th (yesterday) and got approved too.

Well, regarding AP&EAD, people used to pay extra $$ to process AP&EAD back in the days when USCIS took 6 month to 1 year for a process. Now that their process is faster, they don't charge us for it anymore... So they still work for us to get those documents in our hands without getting extra $$ as before. It sucks for the people who uses lawyer because I know a lawyer charge another $500 for EAD and AP documents

I guess we just have to be happy that we got our Green Card this fast :)

Regards,

Junko

Congrats on the GC! As for the rest, completely normal...I've seen it happen to a lot of people. The cost of filing the AOS is $1010 even if you don't file for EAD or AP, so no extra money lost. Congrats again!

Congrats! You must feel so great.

I would be annoyed too about her taking away the AP. No, it didn't' cost extra money, but if you have the docs in hand and you need to travel, they you need it, and its already been approved. This process has enough people in line, and bureaucracy, why tax the system more with an INFOpass when it would have been unnecessary? Stupid. But yes, yes, GC, yey!

Thanks for the answers, everyone! I'm glad that we only lost time - not money - by filing AP and EAD with AOS. It does seem kind of silly, though. My husband and I were joking (because they took our marriage certificate too) that immigration works on an explicit policy of yoink. "Ooh, look at that shiny new AP you have there. Yoink. Wait, you were sent a second copy of the AP? Double-yoink."

We were told when we had our interview that the reason they tend not to stamp passports anymore is because the stamp can be easily copied and there have been instances of fraud. Saying that our IO stamped my passport without hesitation and said to carry the letter with me as well if I was planning on leaving the country.

Oh and the AP is no longer valid once you are granted PR, so I guess that's why they take it away.

Anyways all the best to everyone :)
