questions about K1 application

Hello Vjers!

I'm starting to gather everything needed for our K1 application. I just have few question if somebody can help me.

1. Regarding G-325A Do we need to send 8 copies? 4 copies from me and 4 from my fiance? Should my fiance signed the G-325A? because I saw one forum and they were saying beneficiary don't need to signed it (I'm confused).

2. It's needed to send copy of my passport. Are they talking about my old passport? Because I just passed my naturalization this month and i won't have my US passport until later. Should I wait for that?

I sent 4 copies of my G-325a and one copy for my fiancee. I also sent both a copy of my birth certificate and a copy of all the pages in my US Passport. Also did you by chance order your passport with rush delivery? I'm sorry but I dont know what to tell you on this. If it were me I'd wait until the passport arrives but it may not be necessary.

How are you proving your US citizenship? If not via the new passport, then don't worry about it.

Only need to send 1 copy of the G-325A for the petitioner and 1 for the beneficiary. USCIS changed the forms recently. In the past you needed to submit 4 copies for each, but no longer.

How are you proving your US citizenship? If not via the new passport, then don't worry about it.

Because i just passed my Citizenship Interview and now waiting for my oat-taking ceremony date. So right after that oath-taking I can have my naturalization certificate? How soon can I file after I got naturalize?

You must be a US Citizen, born or naturalized to apply for the K-1 petition. You will need to check the box on the I-129F stating you are a US Citizen through Naturalization. You will also enter the Certificate number for your Naturalization certificate.

If you demonstrate you are a US Citizen by sending the copy of your naturalization certificate, you do not need to submit a copy of your old passport. That would not have done any good to show you are a US Citizen and able to apply for the K-1.

So you must wait.

As soon as you have evidence of citizenship... either a certificate or a passport...

I am also just waiting for my oath ceremony so i can file my I-129F for my fiance. You only need to submit a copy of naturalization certificate (front and back). That's all you need to prove them that you are a US citizen.You & your fiance only need one orig G325A signed and dated.Check the k1 guidelines and checklist here in visa journey, i printed it out and it's of big help to organize everything that u need to submit.

VJ is a terrific web site and of great help to me and many others. But please check with the actual USCIS web site for the correct LATEST versions of the I-129F and G-325A. I resolved a question this past week with a lady that had erroneously picked up an old version of the I-129F petition from the VJ site. Bobby was going to notify Captain Ewok to update the form but in any event, I really suggest using the forms from the USCIS web site at www.uscis.gov.

Then you can come back to VJ and click on Example Forms to find a list of forms that are filled out to help answer many questions.

Thanks. Ok i just need to wait for now and gather whatever needed for petition.

Can you advice me anything I can prepare ahead of time?

For now I know I can

1. send G-325a to fiance(benefiary) and send it back to me after he signed and dated.

2. ask him to send me passport photo.

3. signed and dated Letter of Intent.

4. copy of his birth certificate.
