I just thought of a question, I plan on applying for Citizenship, at the end of summer, now I have been watching peoples timelines and compleation for N-400 applications is just over 2 months, so here is my question, my 3 years LPR is compleated on December 4th, if I apply early September within the 90 day window, what happens if I get my interview before the 3 years LPR is compleated?

You can have your interview before that, but you will not be able to take the oath until after the mark of your 3rd year residence anniversary.

hope this answers your question

I suggest you wait a few weeks longer. I'll do just that.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Thanks for asking this. I've been wanting to ask the same question but never got the chance. So it could mean that the file will be sitting on someone's desk while waiting to satisfy the residency requirement? Something I personally would like to avoid..

Edited to add: Thanks for asking this. I've been wanting to ask the same question but never got the chance. So it could mean that the file will be sitting idle on someone's desk while waiting to satisfy the residency requirement and final approval? Something I personally would like to avoid. Thanks for the input, I think I'll just wait it out for a few weeks more.

You will go through the interview process regardless of completing the 3 years or not. You will receive an oath date that is after the 3rd year.

There is absolutely no rush in submitting the application the day you are eligible since your GC is valid for much more than the 90 days (unlike the ROC phase)... so it may be a good idea to wait and submit you app a little later - you might get lucky and get your interview and oath on the same day. However, this is not a guarantee and you could still have to wait several weeks before taking the oath. It is your own personal call but there will not be a difference in the outcome!

Cheers!

Thank You all for taking the time to reply, it is much appreciated, I think I may hold out a few more weeks, my only real concern with time is my son will be 18 next August and if I am not a USC by then, I have to do the green card prosses from scratch for him......Not Happening LOL.

and as for same day oath, I wish no where on this forum have I seen NYC same day oath.......if only.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. It's very unlikely that I get a same day oath since San Francisco, my DO, rarely (if ever) does that for an ordinary case like mine and from what I've learned, I do have to wait a few weeks or even a month or so to get scheduled for the oath ceremony. I think I can still manage the waiting and the excitement for the last leg of my journey, as long as nothing out of the ordinary happens with my file. and good luck, darklady!
