This NY congressman needs to get his head out of his a$ and realize we have a problem in this country and AZ has the balls to do something about it.

We have a problem alright....lots of xenophobes and bigots looking for a scapegoat to all their unrealized fears.

fears? Nothing about this is 'fear.'

It's about the economic impact of the whole thing as well as the Americans they keep out of work and the criminals who are jumping the border as well.

It needs to be put to a stop and controlled.

It's not about 'fear,' it's about protecting this sovereign nation.

Bullsh!t. Immigration is a boost to our economy....unless you are relying on racist John Tanton and his anti-immigration groups with their "data."

During normal times, possibly.

Immigration has to be a controlled flow. We are seeing nothing o the sorts.

There is a LEGAL way to do things and we're trying to stop the illegal way.

Illegal immigration, which is uncontrolled, actually has a detrimental effect on the economy. Maybe on a "national" scale it looks good on the books, but from a local/state viewpoint it sucks ####. Arizona HAD to do something about it.

Chicago, man.

We're different than the rest of America. When we protest, you'd almost think it was the 60s again.

New Yorkers too, it also helps that we have one of the largest hispanic populations in the country and the vast, vast majority of them are legal and even more were born in this country, and are 2nd, 3rd or even 4th generation. *ahem*

I know a lot of people who are against illegal immigration in a big way and they even thinks this law sucks. There's a much better way to do things. I agree the federal government needs to get a move on it... and quick...

Free market principles, Paul. We entered into a free trade agreement with our neighboring countries. That agreement opened up the borders to more free flow of goods and services. Just go look at how many trucks now come into this country from Mexico since NAFTA. Where's the control, Paul? Why are you concerned about controlling the flow of labor, but not commerce?

Having the balls to do something about it = good

Making a law like this which will inevitably cause racial profiling/prejudice even if it wasn't 'intended' to do so = bad

And honestly, seeing who was involved in writing this law, I don't see how prejudice wasn't a factor. Why, for instance, didn't they make a law for the AZ department of labor to come down harder on employers who employ illegal immigrants? Why create more work for the AZ police... when their priority should be violent crimes? Honestly, it would be cheaper to hire and train inspectors for the department of labor than it would to hire and train more police.

Read the law... it actually addresses employers as well. Of course the media ignores this...

I live in Tucson, Arizona and am thrilled that finally something has been done. Our border is important.

What people don't understand is wouldn't they rather know that Tucson has laws that would PROTECT them coming

here for business or tourism? It's just a hype the media is doing and it's putting the nation in a frenzy that is unecessary.

If you are legal then you have nothing to worry about. That's the bottom line. I'm just one citizen of thousands here in

Arizona who are tired of having our border filled with trash. I say good for our Governor!!

Until one actually lives here and works here, they really don't know what we are going thru.

Thank you for your support!!!
