I would give them a day or 2. Ours was received on a friday and I called on a tuesday morning in the PI. Our case was expedited through the NVC (granted we did a CR-1 visa) so that may have been why we were able to have an appointment so quick. I think typically it takes about 2-3 business days to get the stuff done so they can schedule an interview.

I gave the embassy 3 business days then I called the $18 PIN number and when asked if I received the letter from them saying I can schedule an interview, I say yes. After that she asked when did I want to schedule.

I did, and you should also. If I didn't contact them, I still would be in the same situation you are in. I've been waiting almost 2 months for USCIS to send my petition to NVC but they never did. Finally I got tired of same response that NVC still doesn't have it, so I contacted my congressman. It only took a about a week and my petition was finally sent to NVC and now on its way to the embassy. SO CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN NOW :0

Would it help expedite it if I call my congressman a day after the NVC gets my documents? What exactly would I say? Maybe something polite like, "Would you please expedite my case? It's stuck at the NVC. Thanks!"

I've no problems making a request from a politician. I'm a VERY low maintenance tax-payer...

Well i phoned my congresswoman. If there's one thing I've learned from this site it's to be persistent and verging on outright annoying. The call got me nowhere as the aid asked a few no-brainer questions and exposed my my flaccid complaint for turgid impatience, and the utterly absurd request for them to get involved already, however if it takes a day over 7 days, I'm going to call them back and make an a$$ of myself as if it was the end of the world. It's how I roll.
