China LOVES Obama So Much, They Named a Night Club After him...

(CANVAS STAFF REPORTS) - The Obama name is now part of the nightlife in Shanghai, according to AOL News .

On Monday, the Obama Entertainment Club opened. It is named after President Barack Obama, though several club staff said they hadn't heard of the president.

The nightclub is lavish with two stone lion statues and an enormous outdoor fountain that operates in time with a piano ballad, according to AOLnews.com. ( AOL News posted photos of the club .) Visitors are greeted inside by a strobe light, fog machines and six big screens that display graphics that "look as though they might have been borrowed from an iTunes audio visualizer."

Hiphopwired.com reported that the club was designed by interior designer Cagley and Tanner of Las Vegas. The logo features a woman's leg "coming out of the O to give it a sexy twist to the president's name," according to the article.

The Mpelembe Network stated that the club is using Obama's mandate for "change" to draw clientele.

"Because Obama has mentioned "change" during his election campaign, so in truth we also hoped that this nightclub, a pinnacle of culture and entertainment, can be an instrument of change," Dragon Chiang, vice chairman for Shanghai Yahe Investment, said as quoted by Mpelembe. "We no longer want people to think of nightclubs as a certain kind of venue. We hope that under our leadership, this nightclub can have a fresh way of operating."

The club has state-of-the-art audio and video entertainment systems, dancers, hostesses and a rooftop garden, according to mpelembe. It accommodates more than 2,000 guests at a time, making it one of Shanghai's biggest entertainment venues.

Hiphopwired.com reported that Obama's spokesman said the president had no involvement with the nightclub.
