Hello,

I need help on how to file for the I-864A. I am the the petitioner for my wife and I will be using my sister to help me with the AOS. My question is all about Part 2. Sponsor's Promise. When it says " I, The Sponsor,______________" is it the Petitioners name should be written?

Part 3 is for the Household Member's Promise.

When it says " I, The Household Member,___________" the name should be under my sister right?

Thanks, sorry a lil bit confuse here.

Yes

and

Yes.

You will also need to fill out your own 864.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Thank you very much for a very quick reply!

yes, you have to file i 864 and also your sister file i 864a. also as you asked, you have to put your name under part 3.

i sposor______________________________, then you have to put person name whom you sponsor ,below that your signature. and at the bottom of same page .your sister have to sign also.

Tax returns, driver's licenses, letters mailed to both at the same address could be used as proofs.

Yes, write 1 there.

Hello all, I know this seems silly, but I actually have the same question as the OP. I am a USC petitioning for my wife and have filled out form i-864. I am using my father as a sponsor, so he is filling out form i-864a.

I had thought that my father's name was needed on both parts 2 and 3 of form i-864a. But according to the information in this post, it should be as follows:

Part 2: Sponsor's promise:

13. I, the sponsor, (my name) ,....

14. (my signature)

Part 3: Household Member's promise:

15. I, the Household Member, (my father's name) ,....

16. (my father's signature)

This is correct?

Also, I was under the impression that these signatures don't need to be notarized or signed in front of the officer, is this correct? Thanks in advance, and sorry again for the repeat question.
