Your choice of agent can be your wife/partner (if she/he is a USC) or a lawyer - its just so there is an address in the US where the correspondence can be sent as this is the quickest and most convenient way to deal with everything.

I chose myself as the choice of agent, so that all the information is sent to me. This eliminates any mistakes if done by another person. When you are the choice of agent you know how urgent the information has to get to the NVC in order to avoid delays in the case.

What is this choice of agent? What is the difference among the different choices???

The chosen choice of agent will receive all correspondence from the NVC. It is better to appoint a choice of agent in USA in order to get all correspondence in less time compared with a choice of agent in a foreign address. A choice of agent can be the US Citizen petitioner or a lawyer. NVC generates DS 3032 form (to select a choice of agent) and AOS Fee Bill at the same time, approximately two weeks after the USCIS approval. Many of us here were successful to handle the choice of agent via email method. Usuallty, the foreign alien spouse will need to email NVC, after DS 3032 (Choice of Agent) form is generated by NVC. In that email, the beneficiary can request NVC to elect his/her choice of agent and give the choice of agent's name and mailing address. Usually, NVC replies the choice of agent acceptance via email within 2-10 days. This emailing method can save lot of time, as it eliminates the postal mailing time.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview
