Hi all, I am getting ready to go to the US on a K1 visa, so I was wondering what documents will be requested at the following steps of my journey.

What do they want to release a wedding licence? and what do they need to adjust my status? It would be much easier to have everything ready now that I'm still here, rather than having my papers sent from my family later on.

thank you for your replies.

for your marriage license they should be able to just use your passport for the ID, for your AOS you will need your birth cert, and then a bunch of other things that you get in the states. I would recommend reading the guide on the AOS process to see the documents you need, but everything you need you should have from doing the K1.

for a marriage license - it varies by state. Suggest you tell yer USC person to go to the county courthouse, and inquire in person for ID requirements. Some places want a SSN, some places accept passport, it all varies by state.

You can get SSN from the local SSA office on or about Day 14 after POE date.

For exactly 'what to do' for AOS forms/procedures/other documents -

please read the site's guide on it, at http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
