My fiancee and I are dying. Everything was going so smoothly...

We got approved. However, the USCIS made our period of validity 3 months short than it was supposed to be on our I-797. Just a silly typo.

So once the embassy got our case, they returned it immediately cause the USCIS had requested it back to fix the typo...

It's been close to a month now...The USCIS hasn't issued a new I-797 yet. The NVC returned the case to the USCIS on the 24th of March.

When I called the USCIS and talked to an officer he told me the that our case hadn't shown up in their system yet. I'm sure our case is back to the USCIS by now, but for all we know it could just be sitting in the mail room...

The officer told me it could be up to 60 days for them to get it in their system. It doesn't make sense...All this to fix a typo?

How come they're able to issue an NOA1 the day they get the case but can't get our case out of the mail room for 2 weeks (and counting)? All we need is that typo to be fixed and our case to be sent back to the embassy...

Has anyone ever experienced something like this? If so, how long did it take to get resolved?

Does anyone know of anything that I can do?

Thank you!!!

Hi guys. We are going through the same bs now. Our case was sent to the embassy in Kiev on March 3 d and received by the embassy on March 5th. Interview was scheduled on April 8th (embassy called me and set the date). The week before the interview (April 1st ) I got a phone call from the embassy and been told that my interview cancelled because they dont have very important paper from our case (last page of I-129F with original signature of my fiancé) and they had to sent it back to NVC. My fiancé called everyone we could think of NVC, USCIS, and the State Department trying to get someone to explain how this would work. The DOS was the only one that really tried to do something for us but still they do not have any information about our case. USCIS was a joke and my fiancé was transferred twice and the lady that he spoke with sounded like she was eating lunch and could give a ####### about anything he told her or was asking about. The guy at NVC said he had never heard of anything like this happening in the 15 years that he had worked there. So all we can do now is wait. I am sure our case will be transferred to USCIS and we will get RFE because of somebody in the embassy (no way that USCIS ot NVC would approve the case without this page!!!) who lost this f..ing page.

wow, this is complete BS here. Both of you here are going through sh*t for no fault of your's and you think they would atleast act like they committed a mistake or something.

I do know of one member who faced something similar.Their case got approved, got sent to NVC and from there to the consulate. They even had an interview and then got placed in AP and finally their case was sent back to USCIS for further review.(k.loveh is the name I think)

They went through India.I do not know the reasons,so I will not misguide you.

But good luck to both of you and really hope you guys get out of this mess and soon.
