Help with Notice of Action

Hi everyone! I received my approval letter for K1 visa from USCIS yesterday and it say that my petition has been forwarded to listed consulate (Nigeria). This is strange to me because i believe it suppose to go to NVC first before consulate. Can anyone pls enlighten me on this?

It will go through NVC, then to the Embassy/Consulate - not to worry. Congratulations on the approval.

Give it time, it can take a couple of weeks to make its way to NVC.

I am not sure that this is what you are doing, but for 4 or 5 days I was using the Automated response system at NVC and it kept saying they had no record of my file. Someone posted here that you need to speak to an operator in person for the K-1 petition to find out when it got to the NVC and when it would be forwarded to the Consulate/Embassy.

Maybe that is obvious to everyone but I thought I would just mention it. When I spoke to the operator they had already received it and were forwarding it that same day.

Yeah - K1s traditionally aren't in the automated system - you've gotta get to a human.

I talked to live person and she said the same thing. She told me it takes up to 15 business days. I asked her how come NVC received some people's packages within 1 week and mine is taking more than that? She told that it depends on the consulate..... I have no idea what consulate has to do with this because the package is still within USA. This sucks!

We can't assume that the day our petitions are approved (or the day a NOA is issued) is the day our file gets put in an envelope an mailed out to NVC. I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way. They seem to do things in batches, not individual cases.
