What is your favorite religious movie?

Add me to the 'Jesus of Nazareth' crew, although every year on Good Friday, I watch the Passion of the Christ. It's utterly graphic and for me, very emotional, but it was beautifully done and very important for me to remember on that day. I don't "enjoy" the film though.

"Ben Hur" was good, as was "The Robe". There is also an obscure movie, "The Cross and The Switch Blade". "Time Bandits" was hilarious.

I just don't see the point in being so rude in a thread with religious tones. Regardless of what religion one is, I'd assume that most hold it as very important, and there's no need for such blatant disrespect in it. *shrug*

I like "The Nativity Story" (2006) although some movie critics did not appreciate it. The film was like an elaboration of the few verses found in the Gospel of St. Matthew.

The "The Passion of the Christ" is also noteworthy. It must have made Mel G. richer by millions. Perhaps his wife has been waiting for that so she could finally file divorce.

I remember my older brother saw the movie with a church group. It was very good at lampooning Judea under Roman rule. Most of the Monty Python movies were pretty sophisticated but still funny if you don't know what they are making fun of.
