Interesting Poll

The above poll data is Obama's approval rating from the time of the last election to current day. Gallup have taken his ratings and broken it down by race. There are a few things that I find interesting about this:

1) At the time of the election Obama's approval rating with White voters is about the same right now.

2) Obama between being elected and inaugurated got a massive boost in his approval rating from Whites and Hispanics. Most likely due to the historical significance of being made President and people finally seeing the Bush era coming to an end, fresh start etc etc.

3) Amongst blacks Obama's approval rating has hardly deviated and has remained high during his tenure so far.

So what this tells me is, Obama's approval rating on Inauguration Day was grossly exaggerated because of factor 2, however when he was elected his approval rating then is virtually identical to what it is today. For Obama not to be in trouble of being re-elected in 2012 his approval rating amongst whites would need to stay in around the 40 mark.

Black voters sure aren't very critical of Obama when they give him nearly 90% for over a year. No wonder they call into C-SPAN so much.

Of course they have carefully weighed the merits of Obama's conduct and policies and the color of his skin has nothing to do with it. ;)
