Online Minister?

So my sister's father in law is an ordained minister and he became ordained by filling out a form online. It is for the Universal Life Church. Now my sister thought it would be a great idea to try and get ordained to possibly marry my fiance and I.

This is mainly cause she's free and everyone else is 500 dollars for a half hour. :P

Anyways, does anyone know if it's legal for the visa? From everything I can tell then it's legal in the States as long as the minister follows the states rules. However, I don't know if immigration will accept it or not.

I mean, even if my sister were to perform the ceremony we'd still have to get the license from the state. So is that what they go by or do they look into the person who did it as well?

If they're legally authorized to marry folks in whatever state - then it's legal (for all purposes).

I'm an ordained pastor through ULC and I've done a couple weddings - none for immigrant couples, but for friends of mine. As long as the person is registered with the state (and the state recognized ULC - check to make sure, not all do!), you should be fine :)
