Not all the people, just the majority of the people have been ignored, where they wanted a consensus solution to America's healthcare problem.

Consensus between who? Republicans and Democrats? That's what the new law of the land is. Don't get confused by the Republicans putting short term political calculus over standing for what they've promoted for decades.

I didn't see any consensus. Do you realize that this Congress has yet to bring any bill to the floor under an "open rule"? Since Obama has taken office, Congress has ruled by fiat, not by consensus. The "House" has yet to work its will. Every single piece of legislation passed by the House in this Congress has been predetermined by the Speaker. One person. And to exercise that will, she has resorted to blackmail, bribery, and strong arm tactics. Nope. No consensus here, not in the Healthcare legislation, or anything else that has passed since January 2007. This is probably the most corrupt speaker since Jim Wright.

I've observed the bipartisanship escalate in the last eight years under Bush and now with Obama in office it seems a backlash from that. In my humble opinion what's happening is out of control, it can't be fixed, and it's just going to get worse. Unless there is some major freak of nature natural disaster that brings the nation and everyone together again or a major war like WWIII since people living today seemed to have forgotten the lessons of WWI & WWII. You know what I find ironic? Every major end of the world scenario that Hollywood comes out with in the movies seems to star a black president.

Also Clinton was more influenced by his administration than probably most other Presidents before him. Clinton was a playboy and a good speaker and it made him look well, but at the end of the day, he listened very carefully to those close to him (some of this good and some of it bad) and it made him out to be a decent President. Of course, also being a Democrat from a more conservative state helps too. The Chicago Democrat and the Little Rock Democrat are two different beasts entirely.

No, because the republicans ran from their own reform propositions every time the Democrats incorporated them into the legislation. The reform we have now is essentially the Republican counter-proposal to Clinton's health care reform effort. It's their ideas. They just all suffer from amnesia - as do you, apparently.

The quotes you're referencing after 9/11 are called the rally around the flag effect. It's when an influx of patriotism happens anytime a nation is attacked or bombs another country.
