Parport issue - noa2 comming soon

We have applied for K1 in February, it is pretty close to our noa2 (I can feel it in my bones) .

The only problem is that my passport is only valid till March 2007. So I am going to apply for a new one while I am still here in Poland. I had to put my passport number in those forms we had to fill in. What should I do now - can I have two passports - one that expires in March with a K1 visa in it while having another one valid from march. Or maybe I can get my visa in a new passport right away. Or maybe there are some other options that I don't know about.

Has anyone been in a situation like this or has any advice on my problem?

I'd get a new passport now and do the whole process with that one new passport.

If you explain the situation, it should not be a problem to get a new one before the other expires.

is there a way so that you get the same number? from what i know, unless you lose your passport then your new passport will still have the same passport number. its not really a new one, but more of a renewed one. i had my fiance renew his passport because normally they dont allow you to travel to the US when your passport expires within six months of visa issuance. He just applied for a passport renewal, got the same passport number and his old passport back with holes on it. i guess to make sure that he doesnt use both passports in different instances. you may want to call your embassy to inquire passport renewals....

I found this on the instructions for packet 3 on the US Consulate in Rio:

A passport must be valid for travel to the United States and must have at least 8 (eight) months’ validity beyond the issuance date of the immigrant visa. Children also need to have their own passport.

I don't know how these things work in Poland, but in Brazil, one's passport has to have expired to get a new one and the new one will have a different number. Also, I think you can renew your passport with the Poland embassy in the U.S., if needed.

oh i need to correct myself. its not the same number but the old one was given back to us with holes on it. on your interview you should be able to present both the new and old passport for reference. i dont think it should be a problem

So what you are saying is that should apply for a renewal right now.

I thinh that's just what I am gonna do.
