Melody, I think Sachi will be able to explain to you since she is going through the same.

In Brazil we dont have to send anything else, just show up at the interview with 2 passport pictures, passport and medical.

But it seems in India you have to send a whole package with updated forms to a place called VFS. Wait til she comes back and hopefully she can explain everything to you.

Or even send her a PM.

Good luck dear!!

Hi All,

Interview letter has come...Wooohooo........All the best and good luck for all the people who got their interview date in May......Really this saying will go hand in hand with this process "patience is virtue of success".....

Hi guys! Where is Sachinky when I need her??

I have a big dilemma --- my wife wanted ot do her medical early so last month she received the forms from the embassy and took them to the designated doctor. She took her vaccination records which were incorrect. To cut a long story short, she needs a few vaccinations and they have to be taken 1 month apart. She took 1 on the 24th of March and she needs to get another on the 23rd of April then the 23rd of May. Her interview date is the 12th of May? Will she fail the medical based on this?

So talking to hubby, he is going to have his Medical done the 30th of April or 1st of May if Breach Candy Hospital & Research Centre is open on Sat.

We will buy India to NY tickets for the night of the 25th as hubbys dad works for Air India and too change the date if he wore to get his visa later won't cost anything

NY to Seattle will be a hard one. That one I may have to buy last minute as they will charge us a fee if we have to change the date. Will call them tomorrow & see if the fee will be cheaper then the last minute fare (sometimes last minute fares go for cheap but no way of knowing).

It's starting to sink in. Slowly but surely!:dance::dance:

Anyone else have good news tonight?

Jaxson--Can you specify what vaccination is this?

I'd check with the hospital.

Some vaccinations, if you take the first shot, you're good to go. You can take the rest of the shots in the U.S. This was the case with Gardasil which has now been removed from the list of required vaccinations.

If it is somehow a vaccination that is very basic that she needs to have taken before entering the U.S., she can either take them earlier if this is medically possible, or you have to move back your interview date to post-May 23.

Thanks for responding Sachi,

I will find out the vaccines. I think one is MMR or something like that. She had them as a child but the records were lost for some reason. The 12th is the perfect timing for the interview because I have a trip the last week in May. I guess if push comes to shove, I will have to cancel my trip but it would cost me a great deal.

My questions are.. Now that we have the interview date, we called the Embassy and they said that they would mail my Hubby a package... what is going to be in this package? Has anyone recieved a package from the Embassy yet?

Also.. I am confused.. in the NVC stage I paid an $400 IV fee that I thought was for the visa, but, the embassy told my Hubby that he would have to pay another $400 for the visa at the time of the interview... is this correct?

As far as the VFS is concerned.. I thought I read some where that someone contacted them and they told them what to send them... I am soooo confused on this... what and why would I send them anything? I emailed them, and I got a nasty email back that said to contact the Embassy..

I feel like I am sooo behind.. I havent had the mental strength to deal with anything lately, the only thing that has been acomplished is Hubby has had the medical... Plane tickets and hotel reservations made.. Put in a notice to work for time off.. and that is about it... I still have to organize all of our evidence to take to the interview.

1) Sometimes the Embassy will mail you a P4 which is basically the NVC appointment letter now coming from the Embassy. I asked Bombay about this -- they not to expect anything from them. The NVC email is good enough.

2) No. You pay nothing apart from Rs. 397 to VFS for courier services via DHL.

3) I called them. Took a while to get through. They specified a list of things to bring. What they do, is they help you sort your papers, send some of it onward to the Consulate so the CO has some time before the interview to review the files. Ask Amit to CALL them or turn up directly there. They will put a sticker on his passport and give you a receipt that must be taken to the Embassy on the day of the interview.

4) Block out the drama. Focus. I understand you perfectly though, I've been having a sh*tty week with a lot of personal stuff going on. Hang in there, dear!

Jaxson -- Hmm, I had to take the MMR last week too even though I'd taken it as a child AND prior to my student visa.

As far as I know it's only one shot and you're good to go.

The rest of the updated shots can be taken in the U.S. if she wishes to keep up-to-date with her shots/vaccinations.

Question: Nowhere on the appointment letter does it say that you are allowed to bring your spouse. Can I just show up and assume I will be allowed into the process?

The April interview thread is not as active as this one. How about throwing in the April interviewees on this list - Apr 19th for us.

I know that some Embassies don't allow the USC to come to the interview. I'd email or call them to make sure.

Good luck with your interview :)
