Hi Everyone-

We have our interview on March 31st. According to the email received this morning, the EAD was approved and mailed on March 19th. However, we had another touch this morning, so I think it must have been mailed today. Our concern is about the government issued identification mentioned in the interview letter. Of course he has his foreign passport, but is that enough? I saw in another thread that someone was required to show their state ID card. Here in CA, we cannot get the state ID or DL without EAD. So, even if our EAD arrives this week, it probably won't give us time to get the state ID card before our interview. It usually takes over a week to come in the mail. When we went to do biometrics they made a fuss for him only having a passport and no state ID, but they let us in when I explained that we were unable to apply for it without the EAD which was our purpose for going there to get his biometrics for EAD. As usual there is a breakdown in communication between government entities. I just don't want there to be any problems getting in to the interview. A passport should be sufficient government issued ID even though it was not issued by the US government, correct? Thanks for your advice. I am already stressed enough for the interview.

Thank you so much. I think I just needed the reassurance. I appreciate your response. :)

I don't think we showed Nik's driver's license until we pulled it out for the proof of relationship (same address).

Also, they may ask you for the EAD at the interview, but if you don't have it, don't sweat it too much - they will carefully instruct you to destroy it when the GC comes in the mail. Since we weren't being approved on the spot, she let Nik keep his just in case a job came along in the next couple weeks and he needed it.
