Yes, we just did and will pick up the new passport in a couple weeks. You'll need to plan a trip to a city with a Chinese Consulate (SF is closest to you and us.) and your wife will present herself, a copy of her passport and US visa and a passport photo to an officer in person at the Consulate. Unless she goes back to China to do it, there's no way around an in-person visit during the appropriate business hours at a Chinese Consulate. A month later, the new passport will be ready and it needs to be picked up in person. Anybody you trust can pick it up for you. That's when the fee is paid as well.

So that means to trips tp SF unless you happen to know someone that lives there? My wife thought she had heard that they travel to different cities even Seattle once a year, has anyone ever heard of that?

Thanks,

ya - the China Consulate in SFO makes 'field trips' specifically for passport renewal.

The notices of 'when' and 'where' are posted on the SFO site, in Chinese.

Have yer wife look at the site, studying the 'notices' - it'll be there.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

You may also find such an announcement in the local Chinese papers in Seattle. Not sure it's actually on the Consulate website. If you find it, please post the direct link.

My wife is looking to renew her passport also. She read the SF consulate website, but I don't think she got much info out of it.

I believe she has 8 or 9 months left on it. Will they renew it with that many months left? I don't want to head over there and wait in line and have them tell me she can't renew it.

Besides providing

1) passport style photos

2) copy of her chinese passport and visa

3) front and back copy of green card

4) copy of US Citizen (my) passport

is there a form to fill out also and can the link be provided? Is there anything else missing?

Thanks!

Not sure why you listed a copy of YOUR passport but 1-3 are correct. My wife and daughter renewed their passports in March and April prior to a November expiration.
