Having some difficulties with this form, hope someone can help.

First, my wife came over on a K1 visa. We're now married and we're filing this form with the I -485. we don't have any date in mind to leave the country -- juts want to file the form just in case.

So what box should we check in part 2? Are we supposed to fill in all the personal information again in part 2? How about part 3? we don't have any expected date of departure -- just leave it blank? it seems like the form is taylored for people leaving for a specific reason. Do we need to fill out Part 7 -- applying for advance parole?

Part 2 : You may check in (d) advance parole.

Part 3 : You have to put appropriate date.

Part 7 : You can only fill it out before Green card.

You will need to fill in all personal information where it is requested. Yes, the form is tailored for several different purposes. You are applying for "Advance Parole". Don't leave the space blank; if something isn't applicable then write ''N/A" (not applicable). If you have no determined travel date you can write either 'unknown' or 'to be determined' - that way they know you haven't missed filling it in. The AP really is kind of like an insurance plan - you don't expect to have to use it but if you do you need to have it fairly quickly so it is much easier actually having it in hand 'just in case'. You can include in your statement about why you need it that you have family members outside of the US and need to be able to travel quickly in case of a family emergency

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
