Ive been reading up on the medicals ... lots of information for me .. what I need to do ... but I cant find anything on the kids. Do they have to have a medical done too, or is just the paperwork of there immunizations enough. I have no plans to take them to the consolute with me for the interview .... Plane tickets costs and all. Plus I dont even know if my ex will let me take them. But just in case he does, or court awards me sole custody, I need to be prepared. Im just not finding alot of information on the kids. Both my children are under 12.

ALL intended immigrant or "K" visa recipients require a medical regardless of age

Fair enough. Next question ... how long are the medicals good for ? If I got them done in the summer while they are on holidays, or even later this month for there Easter break, but didnt get an interview till 5 months from now, would the medicals still be good ?

And thank you so much for your quick response.

I believe the medicals are valid for up to 6 mos. for consulate purposes... however, some clinics will not perform the medical unless you have the consulate assigned case number, which does not happen until the petitions are approved. So you need to check how this is done in Canada.

You may wish to go on over to the Canada regional forum to get Canada specific answers

All children must have medicals that i know of at least mine did... If you are a Cr-1/2 ( you never clarified) for the children they must attend the interview... But can be waived if there is a valid reason. Most places won't let you have a medical done unless you have the actual interview letter. Just to clarify before someone comes and corrects me... NOT saying it cant be done without one but all the medical places that I called to schedule the exam wanted the interview letter just a heads up.

I was reading up on the consulate procedures tonight, and I found this in a copy of pkg 3

" Children under 14 years of age do not have to appear for an interview at the consulate. Please be sure to bring his/her documentation with you on the appointment day. In some cases, the Consul might request their personal appearance. "

I remembered this thread and thought maybe this would help someone in the future. The Portals here are very informative.

Im not sure who started this site up, but thank you, and to the members who have gone through this process and keep coming back to answer the new peoples questions ... thank you thank you so much all of you !!!

Moving thread to:

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion

You are almost there and now you have to deal with the embassy. This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.
