The rate of job loss slowed down significantly because of the Recovery Act.

Fine, but was the "slowdown in the rate of job loss" worth almost a trillion dollars? Hell no.

Here is the reality, Obama could reduce the unemployment rate to Zero and people will still ###### about something.

Yes, they will ###### about having to work instead of getting free handouts.

Evidently it was for NYC, a city which seems to have come out with a few scratches from this mess they caused.

I pledged to cut the deficit in half by the end of my first term

in office.

 That one is a doozy...right up there with, "Read my lips..."

You'd have to look at how much money so far has been spent on job creation. Tagging the total bill to the number of jobs so far is not even in the ballpark for accuracy.

Huh? The unemployment rate in NYC is one of the highest in the country.

It's 10.6 percent, higher than it has been in 17 years!

I don't know man, because anyone I speak to who works there is not doing too shabby at all.

You think government is immune to power and greed?

UR killing me!

We vote the government in our out. We have the power to hold our government accountable. Whereas, we have squat in influence over the private sector, yes even when they are flushing our economy down the toilet or shipping jobs to foreign countries for a profit.

It will be a cold day in hell before I surrender my voice and rights to the hands of a private company and their board. Time companies here are told that we the people make the rules, not the other way round like many clearly want it to be.

Profits should be made in a fair and ethical manner. Furthermore, must consider the interests of our nation as a whole, rather than just the returns to the shareholder's pockets.

Otherwise, why not allow military contractors to sell our secrets for a profit? That is capitalism after all right?

Once any organization or business has paid a fair wage, done everything they can to employ Americans, allowed competition to flourish and taken care of our country, they are free to make all of the profit they desire. Yes, even a trillion dollars.

Didn't say that. You on the other hand see government as inherently corrupt, whereas the vehicles of corruption (power and greed) are not exclusive to government.

No, I see government as inherently inefficient, and a cold, cruel #######. Sometimes you need a cold, cruel #######, to keep the peace, and to wage war.

By the way, without governments, you wouldn't have all those nasty corporations you hate so much. Corporations are legal entities, after all! Don't like them? Change the laws under which they are formed.

A year ago this past week, President Obama signed into law the $787-billion economic stimulus passed by the Democratic-run Congress, and the president and other top administration officials are saying the stimulus saved the country from a second Depression. Voters aren't so sure. Thirty-five percent (35%) agree that the stimulus plan has helped the economy, but nearly as many (33%) believe it has hurt the economy. Twenty-six percent (26%) say it has had no impact at all.

You really believe that? He does have a track record to support his reputation for being the most accurate pollster in the business. But, since FNC does beat the rest of the Cable News Market hands down in the ratings, in a way, I suppose you are correct.
